The Blood Type Diet Plan Reviewed

Did you know that your blood type can dictate a specific eating style that is better for you than other styles? According to the creator of the Blood Type Diet Plan, Dr. Peter D’Adamo, your blood type can influence which types of foods you should eat to maintain a healthy diet. He believes that you will feel healthier and more alive if you eat in a way that is beneficial to your blood type.

The following is a list of blood types and what foods those blood types should lean towards:

Blood Type O:    People should eat a diet rich in meats

Blood Type A:    People should eat a diet rich in vegetables, and free of red meats

Blood Type B:    People should eat a diet rich in dairy products

Blood Type AB:   People should eat a balanced diet

So does this mean that Type A people should become vegetarians, or that Type O people should only eat meat? Of course not. Everyone should eat sensibly from all food groups to obtain a healthy eating lifestyle. A helpful book regarding what foods are recommended or to be avoided is the book ‘Eat Right for Your Type’ which describes this diet plan is detail.

However this diet plan can be hard to follow for some people. An example is someone who is Type B who is lactose intolerant. Enriching their diet in dairy products would be infeasible. The same example could be implied if a Type O person is a strict vegetarian. If one of Dr. D’Adamo’s diet plans doesn’t work for you, you can easily find a different plan that does.

Unfortunately Dr. D’Adamo’s blood type diet plan is widely discredited by much of the medical community. Many medical professionals say that his premise is not based on any sound evidence, nor any of the facts that referenced actually support what he is claiming that they do.

There are those people who have claimed that the blood type diet plan had worked for them. It can be a result of the Dr.’s theory, or that they have begun eating healthier foods and/or lowering their caloric intake with the diet plan. There is nothing wrong with this style of eating, and any change in eating that you begin in an effort to lead a healthier lifestyle is the best plan.
